Started with confirming with a friend that her and her son were coming over for a play date. S and Damara get along so well and seeing then play together is lovely. Of course they have their moments but mostly it's great fun. As an added bonus I like his mum, R. So I was very excited.
Then I realised that I had no food in the house, so off to Woolies to get enough for to boobing mummas and two growing toddlers.
On the way I was listening to the radio and they had a lot of listeners calling in about homeschooling. None of it was positive. Knowing that I hadn't heard the whole program so wasn't too sure the angle they were taking I took a chance and called in, was told that if they had time they would call me back and have me speak on the program.
Right, so grocery shopping with a almost 2yr old who likes to push the basket (and yes I did type that right) and possible talking on the phone to all of Brisbane and trying to sound intelligent. Not a problem.
Got almost everything, was running back to the produce section for an avocado and feeling really pleased that I was going to be able to get Damara in to the car before the phone rang, when *RING RING*
"bugger!"
So I grabbed the strawberries and asked her to be as calm as possible while I had to ignore her.
I was in the middle of Woolies, on a mobile, with a toddler eating food we hadn't yet paid for. I had become one of "them"
After being on hold for 5 mins and getting over it, I managed to get through checkout (almost ignoring the checkout operator, how lovely) freaking out that I was going to go on air at any sec. Just as I had paid and was heading off to the car, relief washing over me again. I hear "Now Natasha would like to say something on the issue of homeschooling"
"bugger!"
All in all it went well, I think I sounded ok, I felt like I got my point across and Damara was really co-operative, so long as I kept the strawberries coming.
Of course R and S were already at the house when we got there but not for too long and all was forgiven when the kids got to play together.
It was this afternoon that my brand new toy arrived! I am now the proud owner of a Thermomix. I've been eying these off for ages and a few weeks ago Martin came along to a demo with me and we decided that we wanted one NOW! We had our demo on Sunday (and thanks to that our house is almost done! We have one room full of boxes but everywhere else is sorted, it feels great.) Unfortunately we didn't get ours then as we paid too late for it to arrive by then.
Today it arrived! R was at the demo and now for the delivery, much to her dismay, she doesn't want to want one lol.
I was unpacked and given a place of honour in the kitchen and much admiring was done. I had nothing in the house to make in it yet but figured that would allow me time to go through the recipe books and work out what I need.
R went home and while Damara slept I read, I've worked out what I want to make for the next week, and what I need to get for dinner, Martin called to say he is going to be really late so I get to play with the machine all on my own.
After Damara woke we headed off to the shops, again. At least there were no phone calls this time. Picked up what was needed for tonight and home we went.
I'll post more in another post about what I made and time and money saved as I want to keep all that info easy to find. In short I made veggie stock and a pasta with sauce and steamed veggies and feta. This all up took about 1.5 hours, I only spent about 20mins doing stuff. The rest of the time I was playing with Damara. I LOVE this machine!
I can see many fun days ahead where we are going to be playing around with what it can do, stayed tuned.
